Honda Motor is moving to take full control of its Ohio electric-vehicle battery project, agreeing to buy out LG Energy Solution’s facilities and related assets for $2.9 billion. The transaction, which will be completed through a Honda unit in the US and is expected to close by the end of February, comes as demand assumptions for EVs in the American market are being reassessed.
This plant will produce pouch-type lithium-ion batteries exclusively for Honda and Acura electric vehicles. The goal is to provide annual production capacity to power hundreds of thousands of EVs.
This is primarily for the Honda 0 Series|Honda Motor Co.,Ltd.
